Chasing Rainbows, a new feature documentary film produced in Hawaii, will have its World Premiere at the Hawaii International Film Festival on October 16th at 7:30PM and October 21st at 3:30PM in Honolulu. The film will also be the centerpiece at an upcoming Public Forum on Civil Rights on the University of Hawaii campus.
The 85-minute film explores the battle over Civil Unions in Hawaii, Same Sex Marriage in California, and other aspects of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) lifestyle including family, faith, and societal issues.
The film is timely and on the cutting edge in lieu of the recent California Prop 8 Decision, the overturn of the DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) in a Boston Federal Court and the ensuing court decisions as more states adopt Civil Unions and Same Sex Marriage laws.
Chasing Rainbows takes a unique non-biased approach from the middle to examine the issues of same sex unions. Chasing Rainbows provides an intelligent look at these issues from a centric viewpoint that reveals why the Evangelical Church and the LGBT populations in America are so diametrically opposed.
Chasing Rainbows is not a typical feature documentary: It’s educational, humorous, edgy, even raw at times and incredibly informative. Chasing Rainbows features, prominent psychologists and clergy, other experts, families, students, and people on the street from both sides of the issues. The film includes sound bites from President Barack Obama and a host of other people in Hawaii, California, and Washington, DC.
Early audience response to Chasing Rainbows has consistently demonstrated that Americans are largely
uninformed about the issues and want to be informed. The film takes the viewer down a fact-finding path in search of the truth. Viewers are challenged to decide just how they feel about Civil Unions and Same Sex Marriage, and for most the truth may be surprising.
Chasing Rainbows is produced and directed by Greg Andermann, a local Hawaii award winning international filmmaker. The film’s production companies: A2Media and Agape Film Partners are presently negotiating a theatrical distribution deal to show Chasing Rainbows in movie houses across America.
