HIFF’s premiere of Chasing Rainbows

Last week Saturday was the premiere of Chasing Rainbows and it was a great turnout. The theater was filled with people who were curious about the documentary, people who were in the film and people who were already interested in civil unions and the LGBT lifestyle.

Throughout the movie, the audience experienced all kinds of emotions as they laughed at the film’s wittiness and also became shocked at the statistics of the LGBT community in the nation.

Before the premiere of Chasing Rainbows, I had the chance to do a quick interview with two lovely ladies, Jean and Moreen.

They were excited about the film and its content. Especially with what happened recently with the teens’ suicides, it was a perfect time for people to watch Chasing Rainbows.

As everyone became comfortable in their seats, Greg Andermann, Chasing Rainbows director, gave a short but sweet thank you to everyone who came to watch the film.

After the documentary finished, the audience had the opportunity to ask Greg questions about Chasing Rainbows.

Exiting out of the theatre after the Q&A, Jeremy, a UH Manoa student, gave me the opportunity to interview him. Since there weren’t many college students at the premiere, it was interesting to hear the opinion of Chasing Rainbows from a student’s perspective.

It was a fun, eventful night and hope everyone enjoyed it. If you want to discuss more about the questions raised in this film, please come on October 29th to the Chasing Rainbows forum on Civil Unions and Civil Rights at The School of Architecture Auditorium located at UH Manoa. The forum starts at 6:30 p.m. and admission is FREE.

Everyone and their opinions are welcome to this event.
